The Literacy for Work series is a collection of photocopiable work sheets that reinforce essential reading skills.
Literacy for Work - Reading 2 focuses on reading personal details, dates and diagrams, using the dictionary, sequencing instructions and identifying the purposes of different texts. The activities, set in three workplaces – a hotel, a supermarket and a factory – put literacy in a work context. The first section of the book explicitly teaches the required skills; then students are given the opportunity to apply these skills in tasks that gradually increase in difficulty.
The units of work, suitable for students in years 7–10, also support less able students. All the work sheets are included as a PDF on the attached CD-ROM, making them ideal resources for use on interactive whiteboards.
